The new Wearside League season is fast approaching, kicking off on Saturday 2nd August 2025.
The league is delighted to announce that there has been a significant increase in match fees for referees and assistants for the upcoming season:
Match Fees for 2025/26:
Premier Division
- Referee: £50
- Assistants: £40
- Plus travel expenses at £0.40 per mile or standard rate public transport expenses
First, Second, and Third Divisions
- Referee: £40
- Plus travel expenses at £0.40 per mile or standard rate public transport expenses
Please note: While this is great news for referees, it also represents a large increase in costs for clubs, so joint travel arrangements will be enforced wherever possible.
If there is a red asterisk next to your name when appointments are sent out, this indicates that joint travel (even part-way) is required.
League Expansion and Promotions
This season sees the introduction of a new division, with an increase in the number of teams. This means more opportunities for officiating experience and greater support for your promotion pathway.
Match Reports and Discipline Reporting
Please ensure you read and save the new Match Report form for this season (available below). Kevin Harrison, Wearside League Secretary, has provided the following instructions:
✅ Report any home club that does not provide you with discipline sheets to complete
✅ Discipline reports must be submitted within 2 days of the game via:
- Emailing the attached report form
- Emailing a copy of your WGS discipline report
- Emailing a photo of the discipline sheet completed for both clubs
If there is nothing to report, please send a simple email confirming this.
